Hello Again, from the Excuse Corner, Back with New Plans

New horizons.
KC Trae Becker
After a long hiatus (2 years is far too long) from writing this blog to work on my story writings, I'm finally back. No groaning, please. I've been working on both a picture book and a Young Adult Fantasy series.

The picture book is done, except for the last third of the pictures. I've also made good progress on the YA Fantasy series but have rediscovered that learning how to write with a series is a hard way to figure it all out. I keep restarting because I've learned something new about how to make my story better and need to work it in. Now, I feel like I finally have a solid beginning and decent transition into the middle of my first book. But that still leaves a lot of story left.

Blog Second Anniversary

The second anniversary of this blog has passed. Actually, more than a month ago, but caring for flu ridden children, preparing a child for college while taxiing another in college and teaching dreaded negative numbers and scientific notation to a slightly dyslexic child have kept me away. [I don't need to admit to neglecting my blog for NaNoWriMo, right? I won by the way. That's why you're seeing this new post before December and I'm waxing verbose here.] MOOCs, local classes and critique groups have also dominated my time.

Mother Nature – Mythic Persons #1

My Lady Yggdrasil
Until now I've been focusing on mythological species of humanoids or mythic peoples. This is my first mythic persons post. The myth or personification of Mother Nature has been on my mind lately as I continue to try to define this blog and my brand as an author. Also, depending on whether you look at nature goddesses/ personifications as separate entities or conflate them into different names for the same entity, they are so prevalent that they are practically a population of their own.

Mission Statement

This is the first anniversary of my first blog post. I want to share the mission statement I've been working on for myself as an author, teacher and blogger. This will get its own page a little later, but for now I want to make it accessible and easy to find.

9/18 - Part 2 – Analysis, Conclusions, Surmised Profiles and Goals

Analysis
The users of this blog have a clear preference for the mythology research.
Also popular are reviews of movies and some of my book reviews, but these are not uniformly popular. It seems to me that the book reviews where I use my characters to review the books are the most popular, but I can't be sure if the added interest I provide with my characters or if those books themselves are more interesting.

Year End Blog Review

School is back in for just about everyone, now. Stores are pulling school supplies sales displays and installing Halloween displays.

I love this time of year! I know the change in routine can be tough, but the quickening of the mind and the easing of the heat is exhilarating!

To teachers and students - once you get over the hump of getting back into the groove, the new possibilities for the year are exciting. Think of all the good things that could be starting this year.
